Well, this book tells the story of a little girl, a Dutch girl who lived in Indonesia during the Dutch colonial era. She lives with her father and her maid while her mother lives in the Netherlands. Her relationship with her mother has been separated since she was a child. She always asks her father where her mother is but her father angry if she talk about her mother. Her father always says that his mother is a bad person with no explanation. Marianne really hate her father. One day suddenly the Japanese troops came to Indonesia and expelled the Dutch colonizers, They bluffed and all the houses of the Dutch including Marriane's house. Hearing this information She and her father quickly left Indonesia and went to the port, but unfortunately the Japanese invaders chased them until they lost their rudder and their car fell into the abyss. Marrianne regretted that she didn't get to say how much she loved her father who cared for her alone. And while her mother is with another man
When I read this book I felt sad about the tragic end of their lives and when Marianne didn't have time to say that she loved her papa very much.
This book its perfect for you guys that doesn’t have enough time to read bcs this book really simple and easy for us to imagine their character.
